Peter's story

Peter's story

I joining the ride from London to Paris, from July 22 to July 26 2009.

On 30 September 1999, my daughter, Michaela, was born 9 weeks premature. She spent 10 months in hospital before we got her home, in July 2000, under the care of Great Ormond Street Hospital; unable to digest food and dependent upon Total Parenteral Nutrition (an intravenous drip which fed her overnight).

After a further year in and out of hospital, Michaela died following a liver transplant, on 12 October 2001: 12 days after her 2nd birthday.

Suffice to say, the stated aims of this bike ride, `to bring an end to the misery of premature birth`, are close to my heart.
