An appeal on behalf of our daughter - Phoebe
23 weeks and 4 days into her pregnancy, my partner Karen went into labour. The doctors did all they could to try and keep our baby in the womb, but there were few options. Phoebe was born on 15 December – too early and asleep. Christmas would never be the same again.
We really wanted to do something positive to remember Phoebe and that is why we have given our support to Action Medical Research’s Touching Tiny Lives appeal.
Premature birth affects families up and down the country. More than 25 families like ours will be affected by the loss of a premature baby each week in the UK. It is a common and serious condition that receives little government funding. If you want to help more families avoid the trauma of premature birth, there are two ways you can help; make a donation to support talented doctors and researchers investigating the causes of premature birth and/or contact your MP to ask them to sign up to The Tiny Lives Charter, calling on the government to develop a 10-year National Research Strategy to tackle premature birth.
Whatever you choose to do, thank you
